I have been through a phase when I was ashamed that people knew I was Chinese in public. I have been through a phase after that during which I believed strongly in Chinese superiority. Now I understand that all that time I have been searching for my own identity. I wanted to start this blog so that people can read what I consider to be a slightly more culturally “in-between” perspective on things. Hopefully I can help someone understand their own identity better, whether it is by agreement or disagreement with my words.
A door half open is an opportunity for each side to catch a glimpse of the other side. It gives hope for mutual understanding. All it might take is a gentle push on one side, and a small pull on the other. Plus, I really couldn’t think of a better name.
If you want to know more about why I started the blog, please read the first entry.
